A further memo. from Paris this morning (Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}6/Dn15.3.33) reads as follows:- " We have now changed the springs for the low-rated - Continental type, and there is a very definite improvement in the road holding qualities of the car. In fact we consider it quite passable. There is still, however, a reaction on the steering wheel at high speeds which has not been improved, and of which, as I have mentioned before, Mr. Lang complains on account of his hands. At the same time we are changing the position of the spare wheels from the rear to the sides of the car, and fitting a bigger petrol tank to the rear. Whether this will help, we do not know. We should very much like to have the Experimental Department's views on the subject so as to know what they think and whether they have anything to prevent the reaction on the steering wheel at high speeds. It will be interesting to learn what Mr. Lang's father has to say about the springing now we have made the change, as he is very critical regarding springing. I will let you know what the effect of moving the spare wheels has been, but in the meantime if the Experimental Department can make any suggestion, we should be pleased to receive it." and we shall be glad if the Experimental Department will let Paris have their views on the matter referred to.
