Ad. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to FH. ORIGINAL X.3185 St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Margaret's Bay. Sept. 21st. 1917 RECEIVED Re - New York Show. R1/W21917. Below is confirmation of message telephoned to Miss. Elias this afternoon regarding above:- "Hives suggests that we make up a chassis from existing parts at present at the Works (with the exception of a few special new parts) so as to be able to send them to America for the Show. I consider this more profitable than buying a chassis and shipping it, and changing some of the parts, and as we have permission to build two new chassis I should consider this the best thing to do, but I would not do so, if it prohibits our building two new 'After-the-War' chassis of an entirely new pattern, but as these may not be done for some years we may be able to do a pair chiefly from stock parts now, and a pair of entirely new experimental ones later. I feel morally, we are quite justified in doing so, compared with what other firms have done for the war and during the war. Mr. Wormald should be consulted before it is proposed to C.J.
