| 261 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Lp{Mr Lappin}2/C/26.4.40. Re Chassis No. B.22.AW. The run to London was quite good, but I am a little apprehensive at the frequency at which the front suspension bottoms and it necessitated slowing up over bad parts of the road. In spite of stopping to pick up a derelict Mercantile Marine officer who was walking to London from Liverpool, having lost his money on a binge in desperation at being jilted by his girl, the running time from the Offices to the traffic lights at St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Albans was 1 hour 51 minutes. The highest speed reached, by speedometer, was exactly 100 m.p.h. at 4,100 r.p.m. between Weedon and Towcester. Hope to see you Monday; will arrive about 11 o'clock. Lp.{Mr Lappin} | ||
