Report on 93 NK after 1,340 miles.

ENGINE.
Rocker arms taken off and examined. all are on the dry side, No. II being absolutely dry and rusty at push-rod end. This rocker-arm had also picked up slightly in the bearing. The valve end of rocker arms are just sufficiently lubricated. we consider that more oil is required. we have temporarily cured No. II by closing hole at valve end slightly, thereby just allowing sufficient oil at both ends to prevent squeaking. Compressions are even and good. Examination of pistons shew excess of oil - considerable amount of carbon deposit. Sparking plugs - fair amount of carbon deposit. No oil leak at oil relay shaft. Leak from oil relay filter due to fibre washer not bedding as should be. This has been made O.K. Filter taken out and cleaned. This was half made up with fluff. (engine louvres). These seem to be quite satisfactory. No dirt in engine after running in wet weather. Water pump packing O.K. also housing. Engine suspension in front quite O.K. Cast iron choke valve in down-take pipe rattles. Tightening up of spring does not cure it. Bearing clearance seems rather too excessive. we have had no trouble with sticking. Magneto drive O.K. (LEC's 2019 & 2028) Battery make & break points pitted. Temperature of engine oil not taken, due to pipe brought over having a faulty brazed joint. This is being attended to.

FRONT AXLE.
Pivots and bearings O.K. Brake operating shafts with larger bearings - no wear is noticeable. Front springs well lubricated, and all leaves O.K.

No oil leaks from underneath engine.

UNDERSHIELD.
Modified undershield to scheme 6I8/9/20. This gets fairly full of dirt. Does not quite protect front of gearbox. we are investigating the cause of this.

EXHAUST PIPES.
Exhaust lagging on rear & front silencers O.K. Exhaust silencer brackets O.K. No blow at sliding joints. Slight blow at cut-out joint.
