R.R. 348A (100 H) (P 14. 21.4.10) E.P. 6547. DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. Issued 20th Sept. 1910 This column is for Name of Person addressed. DATE. Mr. Barrington. 20/9/10 AD28/D20910 In a letter dated the 20th. inst. to Ferguson & Co. of Belfast, we say, referring to the oil consumption:- "The oil consumption also varies materially with the quality of the oil used. Some thin and easily evaporated oils pass from the exhaust as smoke and vapour with a moderate rise of temperature, whereas some of the oils which have been several times distilled to get them down to an oil in which the evaporation is very low for up to a given temperature, will last in the engine much longer. We shall be making thorough investigation of this matter shortly and will let you know if we come to any very decisive conclusions on the matter". When these investigations have been made, will you kindly let me have particulars to send to Messrs Ferguson? A.J.Deas. x986 This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. | ||
