Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std1/M. 23rd February, 1937 Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr.Steadman. We beg to acknowledge with thanks receipt of your letter of the 22nd instant, and we note you are sending us some sample pieces of Staybrite and Mild Steel Stiffeners, for experimental purposes. With reference to the spot welding of stiffeners to steel bonnet sides, we would state that the same remarks apply here as for the Radiator cases, i.e. we do not think it would be a practical proposition for us to take on this welding, as the small amount of work involved in spot welding these would be out of proportion with the finished value of the job. Assuring you at all times of our best attention. Yours faithfully, p.p FISHER & LUDLOW LTD. R. {Sir Henry Royce} E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Smith DIRECTOR.
