EH. E.F.C. X.790 COPY. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/F13.11.19. X 790 X 3656 RE CONSUMPTION, HP, AND COMPRESSIONS. Although we have made comparative tests on the dynamometer and the road as regards HP and consumption with varying compressions, I have not been able to obtain any definite satisfactory results, in fact from the results obtained it certainly appears that there is no appreciable difference or loss in HP or consumption between the super low compression and the old low compression. Comparisons have been made on the same engine by .125" liners being fitted under the cylinders. I think this is a rather an important point, and one on which we could to advantage obtain definite results by testing on the bench, now that you have completed the 100 hour split pistons type test.
