8540 C.W.Hancock Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/WJ.23.7.34. 21-G.1V. has left thismorning for France. We have had great difficulty in collecting drivers. There were no spare men at the Works. We are sending out with the car, Grylls. I have told him that when he arrives there he becomes part of your Squad and works under your instructions. We are also sending out two other fellows, one is a premium pupil, the other is Ward who has been working with Leslie for some time. I have sent out with Grylls a friend of mine named Walsh. He is a chap who has had very bad luck - been out of a job for a couple of years and then bought a partnership in a business and was more or less swindled out of it. He has gone out with the understanding that it is not a permanent job, it may last only a few weeks. I would like however for you to see that he gets fair chance. Although he has driven me in a car, one could not look upon him as an expert driver of a Rolls-Royce. I think you can arrange the job so that he does not have to do much driving. It is still left with you that if you do not think he is satisfactory to send him back. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
