A.C.F.S. (M.D. Dept) Genl. No. 22 518X Mr. Royce. Re Ventilating Floorboards. The following are the results of a floorboard temperature test, under the conditions stated. - The entire panel was out from each side, the area of each triangular opening thus formed being ___ sq. inches. Temperatures were taken from a thermometer fixed in the centre of the sloping portion of footboard, the bulb of thermometer projecting from the underside about 1/2 inch. Readings were taken every two minutes over a 12 mile circuit of average road with the panels open, and the test was repeated under similar conditions, but with the openings closed by tightly fitting blocks. Degrees Centigrade | Open Panel | 50° 46° 46° 45° 47° 48° 46° 46° 45° 46° 46° 47° | Average 46.5° | |--------------|---------------------------------------------------|---------------| | Closed Panel | 54° 49° 48° 47° 49° 50° 48° 49° 49° 46° 46° 47° | Average 48.3° | The average temperature of the radiator in the first test was 70.8° C. and in the second test 70.3° C. The temperature of the atmosphere was 14° C and the atmospheric conditions were the same for both tests. The average speed of the chassis was 25 miles per hour on top gear. R | ||
