-2- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL./SL.1.5.30. while retaining the self-draining properties, is immune from becoming inoperative. (By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} is supplying us with one). (4) Having eliminated float failure, the only other failure can be due to sticking of the valve mechanism; this is very rare and only two cases are reported of failure in which the float was not leaking. To provide against damage due to this or any other effect, the suction pump discharge should not be taken into the crankcase; the original scheme of silencer on the carburetter air intake was better in this respect.
