R.R. 235a (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/158/13. To R. {Sir Henry Royce} from Bn. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Copy to CJ. Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Bn. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Copy to CK. {Mr Clark} X.3612 BnG/WS.2.20. X.3612. Re Material for Gleason Bevel Wheel. The E.N. V. {VIENNA} Company who are cutting Gleason Bevels in this country for us are most anxious to change over from Ubas to C.H.N.S for the Bevel Wheel. They find they will be able to ensure far better results on the Gleason Machine with C.H.N.S. and it obviates the dragging which occurs with Ubas. Their general practice apparently is to use 5% C.H.N.S. and they have sufficient experience to guarantee results with this material. Mr. Wormald and Mr. Bailey have interviewed the firm and discussed this subject with them and we think we should adopt this change. As a first step we have put in hand 50 blanks from which 20 gears will be cut. We shall be glad if you would give us approval for this course. Bn. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} | ||
