1607 re Chassis 139-AG - J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} S. Spencer Esq. Faulty battery [Stamp: RECEIVED DEPT MAR. 23] C. to E.F.C. C. to BH. D/BR/HF{H. W. Frost - Coachwork Inspector}9/B15.3.23 Referring to letter Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}7/WJ23.2.23 to The Chloride Co, suggesting that a special low price for renewing the battery of the above Chassis should be in the proportion of - Customer 50% Rolls-Royce 25% Messrs. Barkers. 25% Please note we have received a letter from the above customer's Chauffeur as hereunder, and from which you will note he does not agree to having to pay the 50% as suggested by E.F.C. Can you please look into this matter, therefore, and let us know if you have any further suggestions to make :- "Attached hereto is a letter which I received from The Clyde Automobile Co. Ltd. Glasgow. I will thank you to let me know if the statement as to your paying the half of the repairs to the battery in dispute is correct." "Owing to Mr. Spencer being abroad at the present time I will only pay the £3.3 under protest. When buying Chassis No. 139-AG last year I took it for granted that the battery would be an up-to-date type and not an early pattern as stated by the battery manufacturers in one of the letters received by The Clyde Auto Co. inwhich they also state that it must have had extensive use while as a matter of fact the mileage was under 6,000." "I am quite sure Mr. Spencer will not be too well pleased when I have to explain the matter to him". Yourstruly, (Signed - R.{Sir Henry Royce} Maxwell, For J.S. Spencer Esq) D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} HFP. | ||
