-7- ∴ Vol flow at (3) = (22.34 K P₁ / √T₁) / (P₃ / RT₃) = 30.35 K T₃P₁ / (P₃√T₁) cu.ft/min. T in ⁰C abs. T₃ " ⁰C abs. P₁ & P₃ "Hg. abs. This is the formula on which all the air flows following have been calculated. - for large nozzle - 2.5" dia. - the constant is 175 instead of 30.35. Note:- For reliable comparison of gas flows through a restriction, it is desirable that the pressure and temperature of the gas should be as nearly the same in each case as possible - hence where possible the pressure difference across valve was kept constant and the air flow measured, rather than the flow being kept constant and the pressure difference measured.
