X5080 Sc. From R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. Mot. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} R7/10 9.7.30. X.5080 X.1053 25 HP. CAR WITH DOUBLE ZENITH CARBURETTER. I drove this car for some miles and was very impressed with the carburetter, which appeared to be quite as good as our usual expanding carburetter. This is the first time I have ever tried a fixed jet carburetter that could be considered satisfactory on a car. The increase in power at slow speeds was quite remarkable, and the vigour of the engine was so great as to almost become distressing. The car, however, was not in very good condition as regards springing and it was difficult to judge, and I could not blame the carburetter for any shortcomings of the car or engine except its increased vigour, which should be a virtue, though giving the impression that the engine was coarse.
