Front Axle Pivots.

Standing order 23 of 1913 was to remove front axle pivots C.402/449, from all cars to which fitted, and fit in their place pivots of improved design.

The first improved pivot was F.2352/3, and this was fitted to a large number of cars, but this was soon superseded by F.3253/4 which was ultimately superseded by F.5936/7.

We note that "Form B" of inspection report (copy herewith) raises the question - "Have pivots F.2352/3 been replaced by F.5936/7?" We cannot find any authority for this replacement, and we are under the impression that F.2352/3, although inferior to later types, is not considered in any way unsafe.

We would be glad to have your help, if you are in possession of any information on this point, as soon as possible, as we have a decision to make depending on this.

An early reply would oblige.
