Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
London, N.W.2.

For the attention of Mr.C.W.Nicholls.

Dear Sir,

Another Smith Petrol Gauge failure has been brough to my notice off a chassis in our Test Dept. this gauge was perfectly OK. when connected up to the chassis in the first instance but after some running on the road was suspected of reading high. The petrol was therefore carefully checked in the tank and although the gauge was reading 8 gallons there was only 2 1/2 gallons in the tank.

I am proposing to return this gauge to you in order that you can personally deal with the same and let me have a report as to the cause of failure.

The gauge No. is P.751.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
