x5840 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to W.P. re 21-G-IV. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/E7.9.34 When I am at Derby on Tuesday I should be glad if you could tell us the net result of the 15,000 miles test of the above car. The new features fitted to it were given in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}17. EW.27.7.34. Judging from the reports I gather that the new type semi-split pistons are not satisfactory, i.e. knock both hot and cold. Clutch jaggers presumably as the result of rubber engine mounting. Steering very bad, due, I believe, also to rubber engine mounting. Clutch apt to not disengage. The main point of course in which I am interested is to know what improvements for production have been proved satisfactory as the result of this test. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
