RE PHAETON 4 GOSHAWK II.

-----

We understand that in a few days the above car will be coming to London and that before its return it will go to Messrs. Hoopers for modifications and re-painting.

We wish the following points to receive attention:-

1. The screen to have no wooden base - the glass is to be made to extend right down to the scuttle. This will materially improve the driver's vision of the road.

2. Front seat cushions to have large rounded corners, and be 2" shorter, and are to be 9" under the wheel when fully compressed, and should be much less in depth than at present.

3. A tool tray about 2" deep, or a recess to carry tool bag, to be fitted under the driver's seat containing all the small tools and spanners.

4. A small recess to be made under the off-side of the rear seat to take a spare tube - see "N" scheme 1263.

5. Mr. Royce does not like the hood. The fasteners attaching it to the screen do not hold; the hood is difficult to put up, and when detached from the screen falls back and breaks.

6. The hood sticks should be repaired, and a more positive type of fastener should be employed for attaching it to the screen. We think the hood should be covered with fawn coloured fabric.

The fasteners for holding the hood down were not a success, and were crude - perhaps too far forward causing breakage. These should be improved.

In view of these criticisms it might be advisable to fit a new hood of standard pattern such as we shall supply on customer's cars, and unless a thoroughly good job can be made of the existing one we recommend this policy.

The colour chosen by Mr. Royce for the car is No. 585 - Deep Fawn (Parsons & Sons) We attach herewith the colour specimen.

Will you please inform me when the car is about to be completed as I wish to see it before it leaves the Coachbuilders.
