Temperature and speed test of a unit, noting performance up to 2440 r.p.m., oil used, and leakage.

The unit was again assembled, and,
commencing at 1500 r.p.m., was run until the temperature
ceased to increase, the speed being then increased to
1750 r.p.m. This process was repeated up to
2440 r.p.m. - the maximum motor speed - in 250 r.p.m.
stages. The attached graph illustrates the increase
in temperature with increasing speed; the unit was
running perfectly at the end of the test, the temperature
being then 105°C. It was again examined, and except
that the contact lines on the inner race had increased
slightly, the condition was unchanged from the previous
examination.

D.T.D.109 - P.4 - oil was used throughout
the tests, and incidentally although the casing was
completely filled with lubricant, the only leakage
observed was through the speedometer drive.
