RE. AXLE TUBE BREAKAGE ON CHASSIS 1717.
-------------------------

The following is a report we have received from our Service Depot at Long Island City, New York.

Will you please let us know whether there is any information we can convey to our Depots with reference to preventing similar breakages, and whether we can claim any improvement in this respect on our later type chassis. -

"The axle tube on the above chassis, piece No. G-464, has broken as shown on sketch. This axle tube is the type that was fitted with an aluminium liner. We are replacing both tubes on this axle.

The car which was built in 1911 has been in the hands of several owners and has not been taken care of any too well.

This is the second breakage at this point that has occurred to our knowledge, the first being on a similar axle tube on chassis 1785."
