Reply to be addressed to John Marston Limited for the attention of AWD/BR FROM JOHN MARSTON LIMITED, WOLVERHAMPTON. 25th May, 1938 Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. Reference Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.2/JH For the attention of Mr. Steadman. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your communication of the 24th inst. We note that an "F" type oil cooler has failed on your experimental engine, and we note your comments in connection with the cause of the failure. Your suggestion regarding the fluxing of the tube ends prior to assembly is being investigated and a sample cooler will be sent to you marked specially for your attention. We also note your remarks in connection with the second of the two Bentley III radiators we have in hand. As a matter of interest we should like particulars of the latest Serck Radiator Matrix as we have carried out many tests in connection with matrices manufactured by Morris Motors which we think are of a similar type to the Serck Matrix you mention. It is possible that we could have carried out your heat dissipation tests on our plant, but await with interest the result of the Clayton tests. With regard to the Bentley 50 radiator, the position is that we have one shell finished in brass and the inner radiator is practically completed. The dummy shutter for this radiator has been built up now and by the end of this week we should be nearing completion. We will advise you on Friday in case we require you to come over to see the job before it is finally plated etc. Yours faithfully, A.W.Dunn. RADIATOR & SHEET METAL | ||
