III From all this you will gather that so long as such a mixture is not liable to detonate at low throttle work it would be worth a trial. If we ever have the misfortune to run into an 80 m.p.h. gale which we cannot rise above (owing to meteorological mis-information) we shall have to go all out at some periods i.e if we wish to stand still before the mast to land!
