R.R. 493A (40 H) (SL 42 12-7-23). J.H., D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. 4214 4580 REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/1019. T. 24. HISPANO INDICATOR DIAGRAMS TAKEN AT 1500 AND 2500 R.P.M. On these diagrams we have plotted the light spring pressures as a dotted line. The pressure bump towards the end of the exhaust stroke which was present in a greater degree on the G.11. diagram and absent on the 40/50, is plainly discernible on these cards. One would therefore be led to the conclusion that this is always present in 6-cylinder engines having a common exhaust manifold though much reduced if the latter is of generous proportions. When detonation takes place, the whole peak of the diagram is distorted and displaced. We have plotted some of the detonation pressures which we registered when we removed one plug at 1500 r.p.m. The indicated volumetric efficiency at 2500 r.p.m. seems very high, the cylinder seems to fill up very well at all speeds, however.
