8181-a CAPTAIN CYRIL TURNER, A.F.C. 24, Rue du Belvédère Parc des Princes BOULOGNE-SUR-SEINE TELEPHONE: Molitor 06-35 CABLES: Cyturn Boulognesurseine 2nd. February, 1932. - Hives, Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, Derby, England. Dear Sir, re Hurley-Townsend Sparking Plugs. I was sorry not to have had the pleasure of seeing you personally at the time of my recent visit to Derby I was very pleased, however, to learn that you had conducted certain tests on the sample plugs I sent you, and that these tests seemed satisfactory. I should be greatly obliged if you would send me a report of these tests, in order that we may be able to judge the type of plug best suited for your engines, which report I can also add to the other reports I have received from various other sources in England. At the same time, I should be greatly obliged if you could furnish me with a complete list of the engines manufactured by you, showing the length of reach of plug, compression ratio, BMEP and engine speed, and informing me the type of plug at present approved by the Air Ministry for each type of engine. I should also be interested in knowing the average length of service you are getting with your existing plugs without cleaning or adjusting. I have just received a report from the States that the United States Government have recently completed a test of over 310 flying hours in actual service without taking our H-T plugs out of the cylinders. I apologise for the trouble I am giving you in this matter, and look forward to the pleasure of hearing from you. Yours very truly, Captain Cyril Turner. CT. [Handwritten notes:] YNG See me H/S | ||
