the bore.

In the case of gears made for experimental work when the lapping process has been completed, the steel gears should be copper deposited, and the camwheel cadmium deposited, and a bedding obtained on the rig in order to be sure that the gears are correct before fitting to the engine.

The marking produced by the lapping compound is no evidence as to the bedding that would be obtained with the gears dry.

The fact that it was not found possible to detect the errors in the pump pinion shews that the degree of accuracy required is very high.

The fact that eight of the ten hardened wheels tested gave perfect results is very encouraging.
