Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1263 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}6/AP.14.5.37 P.III. PETROL PUMPS. With regard to your two memos Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}17/E.5.5.37 and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}18/E.5.5.37, we have sent you a report on the findings of our fuel system expert on the car at Chateauroux. In view of the likelihood of a certain amount of vapour lock trouble, we are pushing ahead with experimental work on the pumps in the frame of the type fitted to the Nairobi car. We agree that the run to Nairobi is as good a test as the normal 15,000 miles in France. The conditions of the pumps, however, at the end of the run were not entirely satisfactory. Parts of them were machined out of the solid at R.R. We are therefore doing our best to obtain from the S.U. Co., a pump made entirely by them and free from the defects noticed after the Nairobi run. These defects have come about owing to the increased work the pump has to do. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
