fingers being found to be sufficiently burnt almost to prevent connection from being made. The moving blade was slightly grooved by the laminæ of the field finger. Both parts were covered around the points of contact with a small amount of copper dust.

The armature contact was entirely unburnt and the points of the cut-out working on the system were in good condition.

We suggest that the contacts of the switchbox be now renewed in order to test another variation of contact order or cut-out connection in the same way.
