6021 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}2/JH. 23rd. September, 1939. The Dagenite Battery Co. Ltd., 50, Grosvenor Gardens, LONDON.S.W.1. Dear Sirs, A premature failure has recently occurred on one of your 6HZD9-S type batteries. According to our records, this battery was received from you about December 1938. From that time until June, when it was put on a car, it did very little work. After being fitted on the car it travelled about 20,000 miles and it was towards the end of this running that trouble was first experienced. When returned to us the battery was in good condition except for one of the end cells, which from our examination appeared to have the plates short circuited. In view of the comparatively short life of the battery, and the nature of the fault, you would perhaps like to have the battery for examination. In any case we should be glad to have your comments, and any suggestion as to what should be done. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
