Dear Sir,

We have your letter of the 9th inst: and we are passing it over to our Technical Dept to deal with. A reply will be sent in the course of a few days.

A few graphs are being published in a new list we are about to issue, pulls of which we enclose.

The tests were carried out for a period of 11 minutes each, at a rubbing speed of 1,760 feet per minute (20 miles per hour), under a pressure of 100 lbs per square inch.

Co-efficient of friction and rate of wear of Brake Linings vary considerably under different conditions of surface, temperature, rate of absorbtion of power, and the presence of foreign matter such as abrasive dust, oil or water.

Under general conditions it is reasonable to assume a co-efficient of friction of .3 for "Mintex" and .2 for "Halo".

The rate of wear is approximately from .01" to .02" per horse power hour absorbed per square inch of surface.

Yours faithfully,

TED/AS.
