re. 40/50 HP (Silver Ghost). Faulty Foot Brake Pedal.

Further to our discussion in regard to the bending of the foot brake pedal on Mr. Worthington's car, 58-EU, and upon which a special nickel steel stem was fitted to the existing pedal.

We have now received a report of a further instance of this trouble which has occurred on chassis No. 72-EU, in regard to which London report as follows:-

"I tested this car yesterday. It has 'D' steering and I found the brake pedal very soft, and without undue pressure being applied, I found that one could bend the pedal so that it fouled the aluminium foot board, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the brake."

We sent a new brake pedal complete and requested that the old pedal should be returned to the Works so that they could go into this matter.

I am now informed that CWB. intends to take this matter up with the Works personally and now has the brake pedal, which he will bring with him when he next visits Derby.

I bring this to your attention so that [if struck through] necessary, you will be 'au fait' with the position.

I should like to know, however, whether we are now fitting stronger brake pedals, and if so whether the question of such being embodied retrospectively is under consideration, and if not if there is likely to be any move in this direction.
