To CJ. from BJ. BJ10/H28.11.23. Handwritten: Send copies two of these to R + ask Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for report. Stamp: RECEIVED 29 NOV 1923 HOT FLOORBOARDS. On the present car it is hoped that cork matting may improve hot floorboards. We asked Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} some time ago to make experiments to ascertain what was the difference of temperature with and without cork matting. We do not know yet whether cork matting will wear well and we are making experiments. Leather flaps in pedal slots have made a certain improvement, but this is not a very satisfactory scheme, as it still allows a certain amount of heat and fumes to rise, especially when the leather begins to wear out or bend out of shape. It is hoped that in any future car the design will prevent the floorboards becoming so extremely hot and fumes rising through the pedal slots, etc. B.J. | ||
