Messrs.Rolls Royce Ld,
DERBY.
COPY TO MR.H.E.WEST.

Attention of Mr.H.Royce.

Dear Sirs,

Replying to yours of yesterday's date Ref: ROY{Sir Henry Royce}11/MG, the position regarding the new Lighter type Instruments is that samples have been delivered and we are waiting Mr.West's O.K. before proceeding with bulk production. The writer would like to mention that he has a pair of these instruments on his own Bentley and they appear to be functioning perfectly.

As regards the question of magnetic interference, experiments are proceeding satisfactorily and it is merely a question of the most suitable type of shield. We suggest that if the matter is urgent, Mr.Buckland and Mr.Russell visit your Works in the endeavour to finalise the design.

You will appreciate that our main experiments in the latter direction have been with the multi-dial scheme and naturally your approved ideas will be worked into the new Bentley Light-Weight instruments.

Awaiting your esteemed instructions.

Yours faithfully,
For S.SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LD.

(Sgd) C.W.Nichols.
