CHASSIS ITEM. -4- Previous item No.13A. referred to is:- Petrol Pumps - HSR/AD.9.9.28. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} reported that he had approached the A.C. Co. and explained fully our position and they in turn have taken up the matter with their Principals in America, but at the moment they are not in a position to give any indication as to royalties etc. which would be demanded if we adopted their type of pump. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said keep on agenda. (2) Item 2 on Agenda. Item 3 of last minutes i.e. Adjustable Shock Dampers. Item 3 of last agenda is:- Present general position in regard to adjustable Shock Dampers resulting from IG-D.IV. etc. and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' visit to U.S. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} reported with reference to the introduction on production of R's automatic damper. From an examination of the position it is evident that the gearbox itself is not affected. He has produced the design for incorporating the scheme on J.S. and the parts affected are, mainly the aluminium casting, housing the change gear lever and spindle, which is modified seriously, but in itself is not a big piece. The second item is that the hand brake fulcrum would have to be moved 2" forward to clear the automatic control mechanism. The Works have been warned by Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} to go slow on the parts affected for "X" series. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} stated that Peregrine will have hand-controlled dampers and we must be careful to arrange that F.II and 20/25 will be so fitted simultaneously with the introduction of Peregrine. (3) Item 3 on agenda. Progress of J.II and HR/MR.10.10.28. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that this is a most important subject as it affects 20/25 material which is due for re-ordering this month. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} said that he requires 6 weeks before he can give the necessary instructions to enable Experimental Dept. to build a J.II. chassis. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that a new model to replace an existing one cannot be introduced except at or just before the Olympia Show. Next Olympia Show, therefore, appears to be the only reasonably possible time for J.II. to come in and this means that chassis will be required by about next July. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} reserved his decision regarding the ordering up of further 20/25 material. | ||
