LIFTING JACKS.

In reply to Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}1/BE.9.1.32., the figure of approximately £14. 0. 0d. was quoted by S. Smiths when we first made enquiries on the subject; this figure included a fee of £3. 3. 0d. for fitting up.

When we sent the car to their works however they sent us an amended quotation in which the fitting fee was increased to £4. 4. 0d. The corrected figures are given in HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}6/MA.3.12.31. of which you should have a copy.

Incidentally the experience we have had up to the present with the Jackall System is such that we hope not very many cars are fitted with them. The method of fixing to the axles is very crude and unsafe, and the particular set we have leaves half a pint of oil on the floor each time it is used. The workmanship is rather rough and the system is certainly not worth the money.
