W. Lyons, Esq.,
S.S. Cars Ltd.,
Holbrook Lane,
COVENTRY.

Dear Mr. Lyons,

Mr. Morley of Messrs. Sanderson & Holmes has passed on to me your letter of the 24th April.

I think this is the first time that I can remember where we have disagreed with the Manufacturers of a car over the cost of a replacement part, although we have bought two or more different types of our competitors' products every year for a long time past.

As you know, our R.R. Bentley guarantee applies to doing a job free of charge - both labour and material - within a period of three years after the car has been delivered to a customer. Only in cases where we have definite evidence that the car has been mal-treated do we ever dispute the guarantee. This, fortunately, is a very rare occurence.

We believe that it is a practice of some other Companies to obtain their information by using a customer's car.

We feel quite sure that had you purchased a Bentley in the same way that we did the Jaguar, and you had assured us that the car had not been misused, we should have replaced the damage done by any major failure free of charge.

Possibly you are in a position to say whether your Repair Dept. are of the opinion that the condition of the engine when they received it indicated that it had been subjected to any abuse.

Yours sincerely,
