X. 8673 - MORGANITE BRUSHES FOR
40/50 DYNAMO.

In reply to BY/RD5/N20.2.29. Our bench experiments on brushes indicate that brushes having an increased bevel, and working with a special stronger spring, are better controlled and, therefore, less susceptible to extraneous forces tending to alter the bedding received on the bench.

There are, however, one or two points in connection with these brushes, to prove which, it is necessary * for a number of them to have a fair amount of running on cars, both in time and distance.

With this in view, and in order to expedite the test, we propose fitting a set to the new 10,000 miles test car, in addition to a set which will be fitted to a car running locally, and so be kept under observation.

Exactly when we shall be in a position to say that this type of brush is quite O.K., we cannot say, - this depending on the running of the cars, but we suggest that when it becomes imperative that brushes should be ordered, you raise the question again.
