COPY. W.R. 988A (100 Bks. of 100). G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 842. 10-5-20) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 2618 Cost per Mile of Chassis Repairs. --------------------------- CJ. D/L18/B21.6.20. Before the war we were not allowed to submit to a customer an estimate where the repairs exceeded one-third of 1d per mile. Six months ago the matter was discussed with you when it was stated that 1d per mile should replace the figure of one-third of 1d per mile, and the matter was left in abeyance for six months. We now submit a list of the estimates sent out during the present month which shows that the average cost for repairs have fluctuated between .69d and 2.31d the average being .95d per mile. No complaints have been received from customers as to the high cost of the work in respect of any of the items. Please say if we are to carry on submitting estimates without reference to you in the same way that we have been doing since the end of the war, or whether you now desire us to submit estimates to you before they are sent to the customer where they exceed a certain figure, and if so, what you desire that figure to be.
