I am sending you a copy of all the notes which I took when we were with Mr. Royce, but the following are some points which I thought you would specially like to deal with:- (1) Mr. Royce is anxious to know whether we had a double headed Spline Miller on order, if so, he would like to have particulars and size of the machine. (2) It was suggested that we should obtain particulars of the Sunderland Gear Cutter for cutting helical gears. (3) Mr. Royce agreed that Mr. Nadin should obtain from America particulars of the Gleason Spiral Bevel Cutter and the Bilgram Spiral Bevel Cutter. In the case of the Bilgram it appears to be an adaptor fitted to their straight gear cutter. X.3424. (4) It was suggested that Mr. Hall should investigate to see whether we can obtain a rust proof black finish for machine parts. Mr. Royce had in mind the finish which is obtained on oxidized watches. He said he thought this finish was obtained by baking the parts in an oven to a certain temperature and then injecting superheated steam. X.3442. (5) Mr. Royce thought that we should obtain one of the new models of the Picard Pictet cars as soon as they are available. X.2048. (6) Mr. Royce would like the 4-cylinder car which used to belong to Mr. Burt at W. I have spoken to Mr. Platford about this and it appears as though several of the parts have been taken to supply spares. I consider we ought to get this car ready and let Mr. Royce have it. It is only depreciating in value lying about in bits. (7) Mr. Royce remarked that he would like a small lathe. It was not clear that he was serious but perhaps it would be as well to keep it in mind if we had such a machine that is not being used. (8) Mr. Royce considered that for soldering electrical parts or any parts where there is any danger of corrosion that we should use resin and not "fluxite". EH. | ||
