E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} RE LEFT-HANDED PHANTOM II. In view of the possibility that the American Company will shortly return to the question of our supplying them with left-handed Phantom chassis complete or units only, it was considered desirable to decide which of the items we would agree to embody in left-handed Phantom chassis out of those set out in Oy1/W13.11.29. (1). Quick Warming-up. This means exhaust heated carburettor and was agreed to, subject of course to a satisfactory arrangement being produced and subjected to the usual tests. (2). Performance. We shall normally continue to improve steadily the performance of Phantom II as regards acceleration, and as it is noted under Item 3 that America wish to fit smaller wheels which will give a lower axle ratio, this will automatically assist in the direction indicated and required by them. (3). Wheels and Tyres. It was agreed to let them build up their own wheels, they taking the hubs and hub shells from us. The size of wheel they propose to build is for 19" x 7 tyres which are now becoming standard in America. (4). Coachwork.
