To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} X5020 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG19.7.28. Y The spring drive driving springs on the 20 HP. Spring Drive Lec. 2457 do not give sufficient load. The specified load when the damper is up against the stops is 7 1/2 lbs., actual measured load is only 5 lbs. We should therefore like you to check the poundage of E.54562 and see if it agrees with the drg., we suspect it will be found the load at .525 is nearer 16 lbs. than 25 lbs. In any case, will you please order 16 springs to E.54562 only with three working coils and a coil ground square at each end making 5 coils in all. These will give us the required poundage.
