Pipe Unions. With regard to the spherical type of pipe unions, we have had trouble in keeping the joints oil tight on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III car in France. We have found that it is difficult to remake the joint after having been dismantled. It has been necessary to regrind the surfaces, and over-tightening of the joint has had to be resorted to. The item stating that this type of joint does not need alignment is one of the points we have noticed is necessary after having once been assembled. We believe this is due to the distortion of the joint in tightening up. We have not had any experience of the joint working loose after having been thoroughly tightened up. We do not seem to have any trouble with these joints up to 5/16" piping. It is the larger joints that we have experienced trouble with. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W.
