-2- Hdy.{William Hardy} is working on the scheme for thr right hand change mechanism. With regard to the rear axle, it is understood that Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} is producing a design for the double shoes. With further reference to Bensport, we informed R.{Sir Henry Royce} of the first results obtained with the supercharged Peregrine on the test bed, in whic reasonable good slow running has been obtained with the blower driven direct on the front end of the crankshaft, and a long induction pipe. This induction pipe is about 18" longer than it would be in the actual design due to the length of the blower drive. R.{Sir Henry Royce} expressed the hope that we should not have to return to the front drive for the blower on the Bensport, but that if we did it might be necessary to lengthen the chassis a little to avoid cramping the driver's feet. R.{Sir Henry Royce} told us we ought to very shortly receive the scheme that has been at West WitteringHenry Royce's home town for the rear drive to the camshafts. He also said that the camshafts must be so arranged that they will not run away from the drive by the use of compensating cams, or some other suitable device. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
