The condenser is circular and has terminals at a hole in the centre. At the other end of the coil is a fibre plate in which four brass switch contacts are embedded, and to which the various terminals are connected.
This complete coil is encased in a further cylinder of paper which carries in one end an ebonite block to which are fixed stationary Commutator switch arms, connected to Terminals outside, which are provided with a moulded cover. The whole coil is made to rotate with the switch plate in four positions through about 60°.
