1328 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std5/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 3rd July, 1937. The British Thermostat Co.,Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury-on-Thames, MIDDLESEX. For the attention of Mr. Martin Hurst. Dear Sirs, Referring to your letters of the 2nd instant, for which we thank you, we have noted your remarks and quotation. We regret that we are not satisfied with the latter - we are at a loss to understand why you should quote 6/6d per unit for a Thermostat to BGA.2073A, when you have already quoted us 5/6d per unit for your Thermostat to BGA.3357A. We understood that the BGA.3357A Thermostat was definitely more expensive than the BGA.2073A one. Further, Mr. Martin Hurst informed the Writer, when he visited you, that the price of BGA.2073A Thermostat, as supplied to Vauxhall Motors was 3/6d per unit, and that a version of this Thermostat for us would cost, approx. 4/-. We admit that we have asked for modification to the valve seating, and also sweating of the ball valve retaining cap, but do not see why these two modifications should very nearly double the cost of the article. We should like you to give us the separate price increases due to - (a) modification to valve seat dia. (b) Sweating in position of ball valve retaining cap. (d) dull nickel plating of the unit. An early reply will be appreciated. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
