File 1328 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}2/GH.14.2.40. 14th February 1940. The British Thermostat Co. Ltd., Teddington Works, Windmill Road, Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. W. MARTIN-HURST. --------------------------------------- Mr. Robotham has passed me your letter of the 31st ultimo, regarding the fitting of an engine thermostat to the Bentley car, chassis number 96.K.T. There is no theoretical objection to using an engine thermostat in conjunction with the radiator thermostat, but you will appreciate that to make a modification of this sort on a standard motor car will involve several major alterations and necessitate the manufacture of one or two special pieces. In view of this, therefore, we would must rather not carry out the suggested modification, but if you wish it we are willing to do the job for the sake of retaining your good will. In the event of your deciding to have the scheme fitted, we should require your car at these works for some three or four weeks, whilst we take the necessary particulars and get special pieces, such as thermostat casing, rubber hose connection and water pump. The job would of course have to be carried out by the Experimental Department and the long period of time which we have stated above is accounted for by the fact that the war has considerably disrupted chassis experimental work and completely stopped chassis production. - continued - | ||
