-cont'd- - 2 - difficulty, be able to release the material on February 1st, 1940, which enables 8-cylinder motor-cars to go on test on October 1st, 1940. As the 500 sets of conventional engines will last until September 30th, 1940, the six-cylinder high-power engine will not go to test on production until October; in other words, about October 1940 every car leaving the factory will be fully rationalised. We have set out on the attached a suggested programme for :- (A) Releasing LOF's and ordering material. (B) Car going on test. (C) Types of cars and the numbers which we recommend that Sales should be asked to sell. In view of the fact that we are bound to be in a transition period up to October 1940, we have purposely been modest in the output we have suggest. The basic minimum at which we have aimed is to be able to give Park Ward 10 chassis per week for the Ripple B.V. range, to enable them to get some continuity in body production. Though owing to the Motor Show, we have delayed the introduction of 8-cylinder models until October 1st 1940, actually we could have introduced them two months earlier had this been necessary.
