We confirm our telephone conversation of this morning as under.

On dismantling the gearbox we found the oil scoop on the layshaft had broken away, we later found it lodged in the selector springs.

We reported that there was already a 2 B.A. hole in the clutch, opegor approximately on the same position as the 1/2" holes we were to put in.

We found oil was coming from a stud whose nut was almost off, & also from the end of the layshaft, we removed a plug from the layshaft end & made up again with Heldite as you requested.

We also found that the servo lining was loose & all the rivets slack in their holes, there is one crack across a rivet hole in the lining otherwise it looks in good condition. Dirt had entered by the back of the spring plate & almost worn away the bakelite washer, there was also dirt just entering the oil seal.

The poundage to open the scissors before dismantling was 2 Lbs, & after fitting the new bakelite ring 16 Lbs.

There was also evidence of the spring plate having rubbed the gear box.

We have built all up again, having carried out all the modifications, including tightening up the loose rivets in the servo.
