RE PHANTOM SPORTS.

Dear Sirs,

This is to confirm that the writer has now approved of your design of the above body and that he agrees to your going ahead with the manufacture. The following features were remarked upon and we would like to place on record our comments.
(1) We agree to your giving the rear passengers all the room possible, provided that the other parts of the design are not spoiled. We note that you are satisfied that your mechanism for swivelling over the rear deck will not be appreciably more difficult to operate than the single centre scheme which we have suggested. In your scheme it will be noticed that at the commencement of shutting the seat up the person operating it has to lift the weight of the swivelling piece. We are anxious that there shall be plenty of slope on the rear panel of the hood. (see N.Sch.2515.)

(2) The hood must be wide enough to prevent water dripping on the front seats when the car is standing. (see N.Sch 2515.)

(3) We would be glad if you would prepare a design of the front and rear screens, so that the writer might discuss them with you when he next calls on you.
For the front screen we wish you to use 1/4 ins. Triplex, and 3/16 ths. for the rear.

(4) We wish the swivelling deck to widen out as much as possible in the portion above the main deck. Our N.Sch 2515. shews this rather in excess as the deck fouls the hood side panels when it is up.

(5) We would like to use spring and hair cushions for the front seat provided that they will not be much heavier than the air-bags, and that they can be made to the dimensions asked for.

(6) The hood must not be boxed in when down, but it must rest in slings in the tail cavity.

If you would kindly inform the writer when the body is framed and ready for panelling, he would like to call on you to go into the question of the sheet metal ironing.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS ROYCE LTD.
