D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, We thank you for yours of 3rd inst. We understand your queries on the question of fitting a lubricator for balance. We do not fit these parts unless we are either provided with them or given an exact description, so we are sure of fitting the right type. Any shafts you have found affected by the weight of the nipple can be rebalanced with your nipple fitted. It usually makes little difference, not only is the ordinary push on nipple light, but it is fitted on a small radius. In referring to your ordinary type of Joint, we expect you mean the type with a central carrier for the bearings. There may be a little difference in resonance with this type and also a lower frequency. We have noted that certain cars are prone to show up this feature; in some makes only one horse power category, whilst the other models are free. In such cases we fit internally, a damping device and we could readily let you have one of a type to replace a shaft which you have noticed and from which you would readily observe the improvement when fitted to the same car.
