To Sr. Biler 1245 Levallois. VA.4/ET.10.3.38 Re: CHASSIS B.125.BL - (ex LA{L. A. Archer} MONTAGNE) Mr. BOEGNER Total mileage: 57.836 Kms. We reconditioned the car for re-sale last October and since that date and in the present owner's hands, the car has covered 6.777 Kms. (4.235 miles) We carried out the following modifications and repairs to the engine bearings: 1. Drilled the crankshaft. 2. Modified the intermediate bearings. 3. The main bearings were found to be in good condition. We reduced the liners to take up slight slack. Fitted a set of connecting rods with white metal big ends. After Mr. Boegner had covered 6.777 Kms., N°5 big end failed. The failure occurred on the road from Geneva to Paris and after a fairly fast run on a long straight stretch of road. The owner said, however, that he had not exceeded 130 K.P.H. During the testing of the car after reconditioning, the oil pressure (small oil pump), when the engine was in a hot condition, was: 6 lbs. at 500 R.P.M. 22 " " 4000 R.P.M. We are going to fit to this engine 6 connecting rods with modified big end bearings as per Depot Sheet Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} 367. VA.VA/ | ||
